Kandy Lake Round
The Kandy Lake is a great location for jogging or taking a stroll. Views of the hills and the town are available from the trail that circles the lake in the shade. The final Sinhalese King built the magnificent lake in 1807. The location of it is next to the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Atop a hill overlooking the lake sits the Malwatte temple, one of the two main temples of the Theravada Buddhist Siyam Nikaya sect. The "walakulu" (clouds) wall, erected by Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe, the last monarch of Kandy, was used to adorn the lake.
